Zenith, LG Electronics's subsidiary in the United States, made a license agreement with Toshiba on August 31th.

This is the first time Zenith has made a license contract with a TV manufacturer regarding Zenith's patent for VSB(North-American digital TV transmission standard technology). Zenith has been negotiating for the license contracts usually with set top box manufacturers and broadcast equipment companies world wide.

LG Electronics expects that this license contract with Toshiba will lead to further contracts with other TV manufacturers.

The exact amount of the royalty can not be revealed in accordance with the agreement, says LG Electronics.

A person at the LG Electronics says, "Zenith's annual license income would reach 100 million dollars by the year 2010."
