With recent well being boom in Korea, patents that have combined health and silver nano technology are being earnestly filed, according to KIPO.
KIPO said on December 20 that the number of patent applications for silver nano related technologies is increasing every year: 30 cases in 2001, 82 cases in 2002, 187 cases in 2003 and 67 cases until June 2004.
As for the type of technologies, applications for silver nano fabric for daily use was 57 cases, silver nano home electric appliances was 48 cases, silver solution manufacture was 43 cases, silver architecture material was 18 cases.
With the growing interest in health, silver nano technology is getting attention because it is effective for preventing the spread of germs as well as sterilization.
KIPO official said, “Silver nano technologies are extensively being applied to other fields. It is expected that variety of products that meet the needs of customers will be launched in the future.”
Silver-nano technology is the mixing of raw materials with silver mixed in at the nano meter level (one-billionth of a meter). Silver does not oxidize so its sterilization effect lasts almost forever.
